TAP - School Board Meeting on 3/30

For those of you that were unable to attend tonight's school board, I wanted to let you what happened. First, let me just say that we have some amazing teachers at our school! As a reminder, there has been some discussion in the district about getting rid of the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP), a federally funded grant program providing greater teacher accountability and increased instructional strategies.

Ms. Milan, Ms. Giambattista and Ms. Belcastro presented passionate, articulate arguments regarding the TAP program that made me extremely proud to be a parent of a Blanco Vista student. In addition, our treasuer, Holly Raymond, gave testimony from a parent's perspective. Each person gave compelling reasons why the TAP program should stay in the district and especially at BVES.

It is clear that the faculty at BVES cares a great deal about keeping this program alive and well at BVES. It is my understanding that some issues have arisen regarding funding the program, however, the board definitely recognizes many of the benefits of the program. No decisions will be made regarding this in the near future. Tonight's meeting was just the beginning.

I will keep you informed as this develops.
